Sep 25, 2026Lê Thị Mộng Cầm — Investment Advisory Specialist

The VN-Index closed the Sep 25, 2026 session at 1,785.11, up 10.02 points (+0.56%) after a 1.47% drop. Decliners still outnumbered advancers 176 to 132, and HOSE matched value of VND 11,587 billion came in about 15% below the September average.

The VN-Index ended the Sep 25, 2026 session at 1,785.11, up 10.02 points or +0.56% from the previous close of 1,775.09 on Sep 24. The index opened at 1,773.36, touched an intraday high of 1,796.29, then gave back part of the gain into the close (price data from VNDIRECT).

The rebound lacked broad participation. HOSE recorded 132 advancers against 176 decliners and 49 unchanged, with only 8 limit-up names versus 3 limit-down. In other words, the green close came from a narrow group of large caps rather than money spreading across the market.

Large-cap banks and property names led: VPB rose 4.07% on VND 1,081 billion of matched value — the highest on the market — VHM gained 5.66% (VND 778 billion), TCB added 0.91% (VND 926 billion) and VIC rose 0.87%. Other index heavyweights moved the other way: MSN fell 0.99%, FPT 0.92%, HPG 0.72%, SSI 0.72% and VCB slipped 0.17%.

On liquidity, matched value on HOSE reached VND 11,587 billion, plus VND 3,696 billion in put-through deals for a total of VND 15,278 billion. That matched value sits about 15% below the VND 13,601 billion average of the first 17 sessions of September — a sign that buyers stayed cautious after the prior day's sharp fall rather than stepping in aggressively.

In the bigger picture, September has been a corrective month. From the Sep 4 peak of 1,853.08, the VN-Index is down 3.67%; against the 1,827.72 level at the start of the month (Sep 3), it is down 2.33%. Nine of the month's 17 sessions closed lower, the two steepest being Sep 11 (-1.86%) and Sep 24 (-1.47%).
